NDIS cleaning rates: what changes the number
Two participants can be quoted very different hourly rates for the same clean, and both quotes can be correct. Here's what moves the figure, so you can compare quotes properly and avoid an invoice surprise.
Six things that change your rate
Day and time of the visit
The same support has different price limits for a standard weekday, a weekday evening, a Saturday, a Sunday and a public holiday. If your cleaner can only come on a Saturday, your funding buys fewer hours than the weekday figure suggests.
Where you live
Remote and very remote locations attract a loading, because the provider absorbs travel and staffing costs that metropolitan providers don't.
Whether travel is charged
Providers can claim for some travel to and from you within published rules. Ask upfront whether travel will appear on your invoices, and roughly how much.
Registered vs unregistered
A registered provider delivering a price-limited support can't charge above the limit. If you're self-managed and using an unregistered cleaner, the rate is whatever your service agreement says — so read it before signing.
Minimum booking length
A two-hour minimum on a job that genuinely takes 75 minutes quietly costs you hours across a year. Check it.
Cancellation terms
Short-notice cancellations can be charged against your plan under published rules. Know the notice period before you need it.
How far will my cleaning funding go?
Use the amount allocated in your plan and the hourly rate a provider has quoted you. We don't publish NDIS price limits we haven't verified — the rate comes from your own quote or service agreement.
25 hours · 13 visits · about monthly
That works out to roughly $29 a week. If a provider quotes a higher weekend or public-holiday rate, the same funding buys fewer hours — ask for the weekday and weekend rates separately before you sign a service agreement.

Questions people ask
- What is the hourly rate for NDIS cleaning?
- There is no single rate. The price limit depends on the support item, the day and time of the visit, and your location. Registered providers are capped at the published limit; other arrangements come down to your service agreement. Get the weekday and weekend rates in writing, then use the calculator on this page to see how many hours that gives you.
- Why did my invoice cost more than I expected?
- The three usual causes are a weekend or evening rate, a travel charge, or a minimum booking length longer than the time actually worked. All three are legitimate if they were disclosed — which is why they belong in your service agreement.
- Can I negotiate the rate?
- You can always ask. In practice you'll get further negotiating the shape of the service — a slightly longer fortnightly visit instead of a short weekly one, or a weekday slot instead of a Saturday — because that's where the real cost sits.
- Should I pay more for a registered provider?
- Registration is about regulatory oversight, not cleaning quality. If your plan is NDIA-managed you need a registered provider. Otherwise, judge on consistency of the worker, clarity of the agreement and whether they do the tasks you actually need.
